This might be my perfect example of a good summer read. It doesn't have 'classic lit' stamped all over it; it's not going to be a challenge to determine the meaning of any subtext. It moves really well, has engaging likeable characters and unlikeable characters that aren't too flat. It has a bit of romance, a bit of mystery, and a good bit of one of my favorite things: baseball.Full disclosure: The Durham Bulls are my home team and I'm absolutely dedicated to them. I would have enjoyed this just as much without that connection.Oh, and three cheers for self-publishing, Mr. James Bailey!
